Welcome to PowerTeaching!

February 23, 2012 posted by pmiller@successforall.org

Thank you for your interest in the current i3 pilot and scale-up of PowerTeaching. PowerTeaching is an instructional multiday framework composed of research-proven instructional strategies that increase student achievement. PowerTeaching provides teachers with a clear and simple structure for framing their mathematics instruction no matter which curriculum or textbook they use.

Over the next two years, additional classroom resources will be added to the PowerTeaching program that align the current framework with Common Core standard-based lessons. These lessons will include embedded multimedia intended to help build background and aid in students content development.

In addition to the classroom based resources, an online professional-development system is being developed to give teachers the opportunity to support one another through synchronous and asynchronous feedback loops. Also built around a Cycle of Effective Instruction and cooperative-learning strategies, this online system will empower teams of teachers to create professional learning communities and team based portfolios that support continuous improvement. To further celebrate schools implementation and student achievement, school will have the opportunity to become certified PowerTeaching schools by creating school-based portfolios showcasing exemplars of their PowerTeaching implementation.

To ensure effective implementation, Success for All will continues to incorporate ongoing coaching and support both inside and outside the classroom. Ultimately, PowerTeaching empowers students to work together to improve their understanding of mathematics concepts and encourages students to take ownership of their learning during multiple opportunities for practice and evaluation. Simply put, PowerTeaching leads to academic success by establishing a student-centered classroom through the use of compelling concept presentations, assessments for learning, and student learning teams.
