Part 3: Featured Lessons
Click on the audio icon to hear an introduction to this Assessment.
Instructions:
- Review your Weekly Overview and select two lessons that you will develop by the end of Week 4 and implement by the end of Week 7.
- Using the Lesson Plan Template (provided in the Handouts box), develop your Featured Lessons. Your use of the resources for this course is critical here. Be sure your lessons reflect your learning from the Literacy Development videos, and research three approaches and strategies presented in the readings, websites, and videos.
- Implement your lessons with as much fidelity as possible, but with enough flexibility to adjust as needed. Make notes during the lesson that will inform your lesson annotations (see next bullet point).
- Reflect on your implementations and annotate your lesson plans indicating what worked well, what you could have done differently, and any notable responses from your students. See the Sample Annotated Lesson Plan handout (provided in the Handouts box) to get an idea of the types of annotations to include.
Be sure to read all readings, explore all websites, and view all videos before you begin working on this Assessment.
Submit your two Featured Lessons.
Save the first Assessment as “FeaturedLesson1_firstinitiallastname.doc” and submit it to the Gradebook by the end of Week 4.
Save the second Assessment as “FeaturedLesson2_firstinitiallastname.doc” and submit it to the Gradebook by the end of Week 4.
Implement both lessons by the end of Week 7.
Save this Assessment as “LessonAnnotations_firstinitiallastname.doc” and submit it to the Gradebook by the end of Week 8.
