Set-Up
“Undertaking stakeholder engagement as something which needs to be done is reason enough NOT to embark upon the process” (Revit, 2006, p. 16).
While effective stakeholder engagement can be challenging, it is essential to the success of any initiative. Stakeholder engagement helps to create buy-in and initial acceptance of a plan of action. It allows different voices and perspectives to be heard and recognized as new approaches and ideas develop. Stakeholder engagement is ingrained in the nature and culture of Part C and Part B 619 work, not just data system work. However, DaSy clients may come to you feeling pressure and recognizing that they must engage stakeholders, and blindly sign on to engagement activities without questioning their understanding of the activities or their intent in using them.
As you explore clients' needs in leadership roles, you learn more ways to support them to be effective participants in the stakeholder engagement process. Take a moment to consider the Challenge Question below. Then click the Next button to continue on in this session.
