Teacher Tip

Many Boundless Learning teachers customize Team Role responsibilities to meet their classroom needs. For example, a teacher could require that the Data Manager also be responsible for checking that homework assignments are written down by every team member.

TARGET Team Roles

When teams are formed, you should introduce the concept of Team Roles. Once you and your students are ready to begin learning TARGET, you should explain how roles apply during TARGET:

Facilitator - Lead Team Set Up, lead TARGET Action Steps, help team members complete jobs, and report out the total team performance rating.

Coach - Complete and record attendance and on-time quality checks and lead team handshake and cheer.

Supply Manager - Complete preparation quality check, pick up, organize, and return supplies including the TARGET folder.

Recorder - Complete and record Set Up and homework quality check.

Data Manager - Be a timekeeper, complete and record Hot Words quality check, and record Total Team Performance rating on the team scoreboard.

The Role Cards provided in your Implementation Kit support students as they learn the different responsibilities associated with their roles. Each role card summarizes the specific tasks associated with the role and provides sentence starters to assist students in the completion of TARGET. Consider laminating the cards and tucking them in the TARGET folder or taping them down to student desks.
