Teacher Tip
When discussing protocols for attendance consider your individual situation. Some Boundless Learning teachers hold students and teams accountable for attendance. Others only mark the student with a “T” if he or she fails to bring in an absence note. Still other Boundless Learning teachers do not count a student's absence against the team. Your class protocols must be clearly articulated to your students when demonstrating the TARGET Action Steps.
TARGET Action Steps
As the foundation of Boundless Learning’s Team-Based Cycle of Instruction, TARGET provides teachers the infrastructure to ensure student accountability and tracking of performance. TARGET should be introduced to the class slowly, beginning with a just a few minutes each day. Modeling is essential to both the success and effectiveness of TARGET. Time spent modeling TARGET completion will eventually result in maximized instructional time, as students will become efficient time managers and skilled in organization. Teams use the TARGET Action Steps on a daily basis to monitor attendance, preparedness, homework, as well as identify current academic objectives and team goals. The six letters of TARGET represent the TARGET Action Steps.
