There are two parts to I-Learn: Think About and the Case Study Review. Keep the Challenge
Question in mind as you complete the directions for each section.

1. THINK ABOUT
The purpose of the Discovery Guide is to prompt discussions with the teacher to reveal the
teaching and learning context. As you examine this guide, think about how you would nurture a
sense of trust so the teacher feels comfortable in sharing teaching experiences and responding
to the wide-range of questions within each of the following three sections:

1) Big Picture

2) Performance Rating

3) Barriers and Change

2. CASE STUDY REVIEW
Review the case study that illustrates how a coach uses the Discovery Guide. What do you see
as a primary benefit of using a series of structured questions to discover the teaching landscape
and identify an area to change?
