Just for Me

In this session, we learned that "assessment is the process of gathering information to make decisions" (DEC Recommended Practices, 2014, p. 7).

Watch this video on authentic assessment. Pay attention to the primary features that characterize authentic assessment. It is ongoing, it focuses on the whole child, it is naturalistic, and it depends on multiple perspectives, thereby providing useful information about the child across settings and environments. Although we won't talk about authentic assessment specifically in this module, we will talk about it in the upcoming training. We encourage you to bookmark this video in your online Child Outcomes resource library as a resource to begin conversations about how your team can gather useful information about a child's development and learning during the COS process.
