The Boundless Learning Administrator/Facilitator

The Boundless Learning Administrator provides ongoing support to co-teachers as they learn and implement new skills and protocols for instructing and planning by completing the tasks outlined in the Administrator/Facilitator OLEs. An administrator may choose to appoint a facilitator to provide this support and serve as a liaison between co-teachers and the administrator. Alternatively, an administrator may act in the role of the facilitator and serve as the Boundless Learning Administrator/Facilitator. The Boundless Learning Instructional Facilitator serves as program ambassador, online learning community contributor, change agent, counselor, coach, and technology integration specialist.

Administrator/Facilitator OLEs

To ensure success at the school level, the six facilitator OLEs will prepare you to execute your three primary responsibilities:

  1. Develop a thorough understanding of the Boundless Learning tools, protocols, and strategies.
  2. Support co-teacher implementation of Boundless Learning Co-Teaching by consulting regularly with co-teaching teams.
  3. Monitor teacher participation in online activities and classroom implementation of practices.

The Boundless Learning Administrator/Facilitator OLEs will:

  1. Provide access to the information presented in the co-teachers' OLEs, allowing you to see the same content being delivered to co-teachers and complete the same "check for understanding" activities that co-teachers will complete.
  2. Prompt you to monitor teacher performance and program implementation by completing a set of Check-In Meetings to ensure collaboration and communication with co-teachers and the administrative team, at the conclusion of each OLE.
  3. Prompt you to submit an Action Checklist at the conclusion of each OLE, providing an update on school progress in the Boundless Learning Co-teaching program.
  4. Prompt you to monitor teacher performance and program implementation by conducting comprehensive Performance Ratings at the end of Phases 1 and 2.
  5. Provide opportunities to participate in professional learning community discussions to share ideas and exchange resources with other facilitators and administrators.

Administrators with designated instructional facilitators should review the OLE content. Their designated instructional facilitators will meet with the administrator after co-teachers complete each OLE to provide an update. An agenda for the administrative check-in meeting is provided for instructional facilitators.

Preparing the School for Boundless Learning

A series of actions should be completed to ensure readiness for beginning implementation of Boundless Learning Co-Teaching. The three activities related to program preparation are detailed below. The activities should be completed by the administrator and if applicable, in collaboration with the Boundless Learning Co-Teaching Instructional Facilitator and other members of the co-teaching leadership team.

Planning Activity 1: Determine the Facilitator

The school administrator has the primary responsibility for preparing the school organizational structure, identifying personnel to participate in the co-teaching program, and putting resources in place to support implementation. The facilitator’s primary role is to facilitate, coordinate, and coach.

The Boundless Learning facilitator:

  • Is team oriented
  • Has a sufficient understanding of the process of change
  • Possesses excellent problem-solving skills
  • Embraces the basic tenets of Boundless Learning Co-Teaching
  • Employs high-performance teaming principles
  • Uses protocols to advance productivity
  • Integrates technology to optimize instruction and learning
  • Is committed to helping teachers learn and use program strategies and tools successfully

The Boundless Learning facilitator will need to have a thorough understanding of the Boundless Learning tools, protocols, and strategies so that he or she can support implementation. The facilitator will also need to communicate with co-teachers regularly to make sure there are no barriers to their completion of the OLEs and the transfer of new knowledge and skills into the classroom. Finally, the facilitator will need to monitor whether or not co-teachers are implementing the Boundless Learning practices, and share this information with the administrative team in order to assess attainment of program goals. This Electronic Learning Community (ELC) is specially designed to prepare the facilitator or administrator to perform these tasks.

Planning Activity 2: Conduct Management Meeting to Lay the Groundwork

The administrator, facilitator, and other members of the co-teaching leadership team, if applicable, should conduct a management meeting to accomplish the following tasks related to laying the groundwork for success.

a) Select staff and identify content areas

b) Review roles and responsibilities of administrator/facilitator, and co-teachers

c) Reaffirm the primary purpose of Boundless Learning Co-Teaching

d) Determine goals and benchmarks for Phases 1 and 2

e) Identify barriers and solutions

To ensure completion of these tasks use the Lay the Groundwork Checklist to document decisions.

Planning Activity 3: Schedule Teacher Work Time and Check-In Meetings

          a)  Identify the dates that you will provide teachers time to complete the OLE.

          b) Identify the dates that you will conduct the Check In Meetings with the co-teaching teams. If you have more than

one co-teaching team you can bring teams together depending on your school schedule.

Use this template to schedule OLE dates

Planning Activity 4: Conduct Implementation Planning Session

           a) Update staff assignments and develop a schedule to accommodate the needs of coaching teams. Make a

schedule to maximize co-planning time. See Considerations for Scheduling for tips.

           b) Plan communication updates for staff and parents. Consider how you will communicate with school stakeholders

regarding Boundless Learning Co-Teaching. Outreach may include monthly updates, parent newsletter, website,

              etc.

            c) Review dates for key project activities and the 2019-2020 Calendar for your school. Identify any conflicts with

testing schedules, etc. and notify the state level coordinators if necessary.
