Welcome to OLE F3
Implementing the Team-Based Cycle of Instruction (Part 2) to Promote Student Engagement
This OLE continues teachers' exploration of the TBCI including the last four stages of the cycle – Learning Together, Just for Me, Assessment and WRAP-Up. The TBCI segments lessons into six stages to help co-teachers deliver instruction that maximizes instructional time. Similarly, this segmentation assists co-teachers in defining specific duties and routines for a more balanced co-teaching partnership. As a result, all members of the co-teaching team take an active role in the instructional process based on their areas of expertise. With clear delineation of roles, responsibilities, and allocation of time, co-teachers maximize learning and minimize downtime, distractions, and delays (the 3 Ds 1).
The competencies teachers will meet are:
- Competency IV: Identify clear roles and responsibilities for co-teachers within each stage of the TBCI.
- Competency V: Implement the TBCI on a routine basis.
- Competency VI: Apply primary co-teaching models (instructional formats) effectively within the TBCI.
The specific objectives for this OLE are:
- F3.1 Review the TBCI stages.
- F3.2 Examine roles for the Learning Together, Just for Me, Assessment and WRAP-Up stages of the TBCI.
- F3.3 Review considerations for implementing the TBCI.
- F3.4 Complete the TBCI Role Protocol for the Learning Together, Just for Me, Assessment, and WRAP-Up stages of the TBCI.
