ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE JHU APPROACH TO ONLINE LEARNING
Coaching content and learning activities are delivered using the Johns Hopkins University Professional Development Quest (PD Quest)©. There are three primary components of a PD Quest: 1) Online Learning Event (OLE),2) PD Booster, and the 3)Professional Learning Community (PLC).
PD QUEST COMPONENTS
A PD Quest is designed to guide the learner through a defined, interactive process that includes protocols for developing knowledge and acquiring specific skills related to teaching, coaching, leading, and other content areas.
Three Primary Components of the PD Quest©
1. Online Learning Event (OLE)
• Multimedia tools
o Podcasts, video, polling, and Web 2.0 tools
• Asynchronous learning activities with a six-step Cycle of Instruction
1. Set Up — View the Challenge Question, activate prior knowledge, and be prepared for learning.
2. Presentation — Learn content, new concepts, ideas, and/or strategies.
3. I-Learn or Learning Together — Engage in a learning practice activity individually or with a partner or team.
4. Just For Me — Work individually to apply learning, complete tasks, and generate questions.
5. Assessment — Complete assessment and respond to Challenge Question.
6. Wrap-Up — Assess quality of individual and team performance.

o Guide teachers as they work individually or in professional partnerships or teams.
o Promote effective goal setting, dialogue, accountability, and continuous improvement
