Meaningful Learning Using Technology

In many online courses, instructors and students use innovative technologies and Web 2.0 tools outside of the ELC. Tools and applications such as Voice Thread, Wikis, and Google Docs are just a few examples of resources used by instructors to deliver content, or used by students to demonstrate learning.

The Innovative Uses of Technology presentation provides a brief overview of four categories for how you can integrate innovative technology tools into online learning: (1) Demonstrations of Learning; (2) Collaboration; (3) Content Delivery; and (4) Community and Presence.

In this section you will find a variety of Web 2.0 tools and other innovative resources. In each tab, you will find a short overview of the tool and it's functionality, as well as an example or two of how the tool has been used in the past in a JHU online course.

After reviewing the various tools available, you might be wondering how you can possibly decide which tool(s) to use and in what context. Refer to the Decision Points for Innovative Uses of Technology resource for a quick-glance at some of the considerations for their use.
