Concept Map
The students, working as a team or independently will complete the concept map of story elements.
This will tell the teacher if they are familiar with the different parts of the story,
Instructions:
1. Each student gets a copy of a concept map. An alternative to this would be to draw the organizer as a team on chart paper with a sample available.
2. The students then fill in each part of the story including setting, characters, and events.
3. The students then list what the setting was in their reading passage , list the characters, and at least two events that happened in the story.
4. Share with the group or person next to them and compare
5. The teacher may then have some of the teams share out and she will complete a concept map at the front of the room.
This graphic organizer can be used in many other ways also.
