Welcome to  PD Booster 3: Team-Based Cycle of Instruction (Part 2)

Welcome to PD Booster 3: Team-Based Cycle of Instruction (Part 2). This PD Booster complements and extends the information presented and practiced in the Online Learning Event, Team-Based Cycle of Instruction (Part 2): Using the Team-Based Cycle of Instruction to Promote Student Engagement. In this PD Booster you will explore the remaining stages of the Team-Based Cycle of Instruction and learn more about the student protocols that promote productive group work and prompt students to reflect on their understanding of content as you watch the second part of the video you viewed in PD Booster # 2.

Introduction

Protocols are helpful to co-teachers as they focus on their teaching roles and responsibilities. Likewise, protocols are helpful to students in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities as learners in a classroom. Chosen well, student protocols provide teachers with valuable data that helps them adjust their instruction and ensure that their teaching and the students learning are heading in the same direction. What types of protocols help students stay focused and on track throughout an entire instructional period? How do we know that we met our learning objectives of the day? How do co-teachers use protocols as a source of information and data gathering?

View the video below to learn more about Boundless Learning protocols in the remaining stages of the Team-Based Cycle of Instruction.

In the video, the students used the Learning Together and Just for Me Protocols. Review the "Before, During, and After" questions included in each protocol (these are attached in the Discussion Thread). How do you think students will be impacted by the use of these protocols during team and independent work?
