Handouts
Note: This week’s Assessment will be completed at the same time you study the resources. As you view videos and read articles and the website you will work through the Assessment. Download and review the Teacher’s Role Assessment handout now, and use it to record information and respond to the prompts.
Teacher's Role
Teachers must understand what makes kids tick—especially students who have behavioral problems and lack the social skills necessary to navigate the school or classroom environment. It is the teacher’s responsibility to recognize what underlies disorders and select interventions and supports to modify a child’s environment so that the inappropriate (or even dangerous) actions are minimized.
This week, you studied several aspects of the special education teacher’s role in providing behavioral and social supports for students.
