Think About:

  • How does the way your team uses instructional time impact your students?
  • As co-teachers, how well do you share instructional roles and responsibilities throughout your instructional period?
  • How do you use your roles to maximize the instructional time available to you and your students?

In a Boundless Learning classroom, the primary teaching responsibility is to ensure that every student is successfully engaged in learning— that means all students are engaged in learning 90% of the time. Boundless Learning co-teachers strive toward that goal every day. They maintain a keen focus on keeping interactive instructional time at the highest level possible.

Drawing on fundamental understandings from direct instruction, Boundless Learning Co-Teaching uses the Team-Based Cycle of Instruction (TBCI) to maintain an orderly flow of daily lesson delivery. Segmenting lessons according to a cycle of instruction helps co-teachers define specific duties and routines for each part of the lesson and allows each educator to contribute equally to the team effort.
