Special Education Specialist Interview
Strategy Lesson, Part 1
Because not all students learn the same way, or at the same time, it’s up to teachers to carefully select the best learning strategies to teach students with academic needs. For this Assessment, you will teach one learning strategy that increases a child’s connection to curricular content. Remember, as you observed in the Virtual Field Experience™, this is not so much about teaching content (e.g., what are volcanoes?) but about teaching students how to learn (e.g., how to summarize).
Instructions:
- Select a student with an identified academic need (from your observations and/or the IEP).
- Select one learning strategy from the resources.
- Plan to teach the strategy using the first eight stages of the A-G Framework.
- This week, complete Part 1 of the Strategy Lesson Assessment Handout. Do not submit the handout until it is completed in Week 4.
- During the next 2 weeks, teach the strategy to the student.
- Part 2 of this Assessment will be completed and submitted in Week 4. Do not complete Part 2 until after you have read and viewed the resources in Week 4.
There is nothing to submit this week.
