Walk the aisles of any educational supply store and you will find a plethora of products and programs labeled as brain-based. But how do you know if the teaching practices and learning activities in these programs reflect current findings in neuroscience?

This week you will explore some of the myths and misconceptions regarding the brain and learning. You also will learn about the basic structure and functions of the brain in relation to learning and memory. Finally, you will be introduced to the Brain-Targeted Teaching (BTT) Model® and begin perusing teaching units that incorporate the six brain-targets comprised in this model.
