Neuroeducation Facts & Fiction Quiz
To be effective, educators must learn to weed out neuromyths from neurofacts to keep up with the latest scientific findings and their implications for classroom instruction. As a corps member, you are intent on helping your students achieve significant academic gains. Having foundational knowledge regarding how the brain functions will help you make instructional decisions that will lead to higher academic achievement.
Click on the Gradebook on the navigation bar to access an electronic quiz that addresses neuromyths and brain anatomy and functioning based on this week’s readings. Open the Graphic for Quiz Item #6 Handout in a new tab so you can refer to it when you complete quiz item #6.
Complete this Quiz by the end of Week 1.
Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Plan
This week you learned the importance of using teaching and learning practices that reflect current brain research and you began to explore unit plans that use the Brain-Targeted Teaching Model.
For this Assessment, you will create a Brain-Targeted Teaching (BTT) Unit Plan for an area of your curriculum. You will work on this plan throughout the module and submit it in Week 5.
Instructions:
- Select an upcoming unit within your curriculum in which you will incorporate the six brain-targets to create your BTT Unit Plan. You may plan a new unit or revise one that you have already developed.
- As you proceed through this module, use the Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Plan PowerPoint template to design your unit. (See samples on the BTT website: http://braintargetedteaching.org/sampleunits.cfm.) Your completed PowerPoint must have a minimum of one slide for each brain target.
- Be sure to incorporate ideas you gain from the resources, Discussions, and sample units to create a BTT unit that will have a positive impact on your students’ academic achievement and on your teaching self-efficacy. You may use the Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Planner to jot down your ideas throughout the module. The Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Planner is provided as a support tool and is NOT to be submitted for grading.
You will submit your completed Brain-Targeted Unit PowerPoint in Week 5. There is nothing to submit this week for this Assessment.
