Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Plan
You have worked throughout this course to develop a Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Plan that will provide your students with learning experiences compatible with how the brain functions and learns best. This week, you will finalize your plan, submit it to your Instructor, and share it with colleagues in a BTT Unit Plan Gallery.
Instructions
-
Take time this week to reflect on your BTT Unit Plan PowerPoint (PPT) and make final changes to each slide. Then, review your plan to make sure it reflects research-based findings in neuroeducation.
- Following the instructions below, submit your plan to your Instructor and upload it to the Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Plan Gallery in an online Dropbox to share with your colleagues.
Save your Brain-Targeted Unit Plan PPT as “BTTunitplan_firstinitiallastname” and submit it to the Dropbox located on the left navigation bar by the end of Week 5.
Save your Brain-Targeted Unit Plan PPT as “BTTunitplan_firstinitiallastname” and submit it to the Gradebook by the end of Week 5.
Reflection & Synthesis Paper
Effective teaching rests on the foundation of reflective practice. Now that you have investigated and worked with the Brain-Targeted Teaching model you are in a position to reflect upon your learning. Consider how making the six brain-targets a reality in your classroom will move you along your journey towards transformational teaching and learning.
Instructions:
-
Reflect on your learning throughout this module and on your experience in creating your Brain-Targeted Teaching Unit Plan. Write a 2- to 3-page reflection paper that addresses the following:
- The most important insights you gained about brain-targeted teaching, and how they have changed your thinking with regard to creating conditions for learning and planning effective instruction.
- Examples of the impact you anticipate your BTT Unit Plan will have on your students that you believe may not have occurred with a unit that did not address the brain-targets. Explain your reasoning.
- How further investigation and implementation of the BTT Model will increase your sense of self-efficacy as a teacher and enhance your perceptions of yourself as a TFA corps member on the journey towards transformational teaching.
Save your Reflection & Synthesis Paper as “Reflection_firstinitiallastname” and submit it to the Gradebook by the end of Week 5.
