Lesson Plan

Effective ELL teaching requires you to know general principles of language learning, the structure of the English language, and your own students’ language learning background and current proficiency level. Additionally, in the context of U.S. K–12 instruction, you need to become proficient with the content area standards that your ELLs will need to meet.

This final Assessment will help you get into the habit of considering each of these factors when you design instruction. You will draw on the course readings and the preparatory Assessments, as well as your own knowledge of your instructional context, to create a thoughtful lesson tailored to the grammar and content needs of your students.

Instructions:

  • Based on the analyses from your Lesson Plan Prep Assessments in Weeks 3 and 4, design a content area lesson plan that addresses a specific grammar point in a communicative way relevant to your particular learners. You may use either your own lesson plan template or the TFA Lesson Plan Template provided in the Handouts box.

Save this Assessment as “LessonPlanFinal_firstinitiallastname” and submit it to the Gradebook by the end of Week 5.
